Microsoft PC owners looking to upgrade to Windows 8 Pro will have to make up their minds by the end of the month if they want to keep the price low since Microsoft will be raising the price of the Windows 8 Pro upgrade to $199.99 starting Feb. 1.
Microsoft announced that the Windows 8 upgrade edition will then be priced at $119.99, the Windows 8 Pro pack at $99.99, and the Windows 8 Media Center Pack at $9.99.
The Windows 8 Pro upgrade can currently be bought for as low as $14.99 for buyers who bought a PC between June 2, 2012 and Jan. 31, 2013. Others can go ahead and buy the upgrade for $39.99 with the Windows 8 Upgrade Assistant at Windows.com, or head over to a retail store and grab a DVD for $69.99.
Microsoft also states that, "If you upgrade to the Windows 8 edition or buy a PC with the Windows 8 edition pre-installed and want to move to the Windows 8 Pro edition- you can purchase the Windows 8 Pro Pack (previously known as Windows Anytime Upgrade) directly within Windows 8 by going to the Start screen and typing "Add Features to Windows 8" and at participating retailers for $69.99 MSRP (U.S.) until January 31st."
Windows 8 Pro comes with additional features geared more towards the business end of things such as Windows Server Domain, Encrypting File System, Group Policy, and Virtual Hard Disk.
