"Naked Ebay Girl" got a lot more than just infamy today as the winning bid on her yellow dress came in at a whopping $160,488.
Aimi Jones struck the social media sphere after accidentally posting a naked photo of her reflection on an eBay listing for the dress that has yielded such an extreme profit.
According to the Daily Mail Jones, 21, said, "It's so embarrassing. It is such a dizzy, stupid thing to do and now the whole world's seen me in the nude. I put it on eBay last Saturday morning and realized straight away so ended the sale."
Jones' new found revenue certainly echoes the idea that sex, in fact, does sell.
Just look at the career of Kim Kardashian for example, whose home sex tape accidentally leaked into the public realm in 2007.
Fast-forward 6 years, Kim is now a international celebrity with her own hit reality television show on E! "Keeping Up with the Kardashians."
And let's not forget about Paris Hilton who also had a sex tape leak in 2004 just before the start of her reality show "The Simple Life," which then spilled over into a media explosion.
Kardashian and Hilton are just two celebrities who come from a longstanding tradition of sexual exploitation.
It has not been determined whether or not Jones purposely posted the naked photo on eBay as a marketing technique, but there is certainly no arguing with the fact that showing skin can attract attention, create fame, and help you cash in.
