The "Final Fantasy" series is one of the most venerated in gaming history. As a result, the two upcoming titles "Final Fantasy Versus XIII" and "Final Fantasy X HD" are among the most anticipated of 2013.

According to Game Revolution, Square Enix has kept a tight lid on information for the upcoming "Versus XIII." At one point it seems that gamers thought the game would never actually see a release. Square Enix recently revealed on Twitter that the title is "still currently in development," and that "no dates to announce at this time, but we'll keep you informed. Promise."

The other major title that fans are anticipating is an HD version of "Final Fantasy X" for the PS Vita handheld. In response to that inquiry from Twitter fans, the European branch of the company replied that "The world will get answers soon, we promise."

There is no release date for either title.

Final Fantasy Versus XIII is being developed by 1st Production Department and was unveiled in May 2006 alongside "Final Fantasy XIII." According to reports from Director Tetsuya Nomura, the title will feature the most seamless gameplay of any game in the series. The plot of the title is set in modern times in which one city has superseded the rest of the world technologically. The world is at war and Prince Noctis Lucis Caelum must embark on a journey to retrieve the world's last crystal. The title is slated for a release on the Playstation 3.
