The report of Ann Curry wishing to leave NBC strengthens but it appears there's no progress.
As Latinos Post reported earlier this month, Curry has allegedly "begged" NBC executives to release her from her NBC contract so she can jump to CNN for a primetime show.
The report stated new CNN President Jeff Zucker wants a "headliner" for the cable news channel's schedule and would take over the 8 p.m. EST hour of "Anderson Cooper 360."
On Wednesday, Latinos Post reported how even Matt Lauer has asked NBC executives to let Curry move on from NBC.
"Matt thinks that NBC should let Ann out of her contract so that she can take the CNN gig," said a source to Radar Online. "He can't imagine why the bosses are dragging their feet and are at a stalemate. It would allow Ann to get back on the air on a regular basis and everyone can move on from the debacle."
It appears no progress has been made in releasing Curry.
Radar Online reported that NBC bosses "have kept the beloved journalist in the dark" about whether she'll stay or leave the network.
"It's just more of the same as far as Ann is concerned," according to Radar. "She isn't surprised that it's radio silence from the suits of her desire to be let out of her contract."
Curry has hoped to move to CNN in February.
"Ann has clearly gotten the short end of the stick from NBC. Ann's reporting on air has been greatly diminished, and she is ready to move on. Ann's lawyer is continuing to hope that NBC will do the right thing, but, if necessary, she will pursue a breach of contract lawsuit against NBC, and she would have an excellent case," the Radar source added.
