Singer-actor Jesse McCartney has become the latest victim of an Internet death hoax involving a car crash. The 25-year-old was reportedly killed in a “single vehicle car crash on Route 80 between Morristown and Roswell” in a report by Global Associated News earlier this week.
According to E! News, fans of McCartney flooded Twitter after the report was published. The former ‘All My Children’ actor took to the social media site to calm fans down and dismiss all rumors of his death.
“The Rumors of my death have been greatly exaggerated,” McCartney tweeted. The “Beautiful Soul” singer joins a long list of celebrities that have been rumored to have died in the same exact way. According to E! News, singer Justin Bieber, athlete David Beckham, singer Usher, reality star Pauly D and TV show host Jerry Springer have all been “killed” in a car crash on Route 80.
Shortly after his tweet dismissing the rumors, McCartney shared a few tweets about his new job as a cast member of Lifetime’s show ‘Army Wives.’ The actor is among a few new cast members to join the show in its seventh season.
