British actress Felicity Jones has again opened up about potentially playing the role of Anastasia Steele in the film adaptation of E.L. James' bestselling erotic thriller, "50 Shades of Grey." The 29-year-old spoke to Metro and said that any involvement in the highly anticipated film would have to depend on the script and the film-maker.
"It all depends on the film-maker and the script, just like any other job," the actress said. Jones was then asked about a fan-made promo of herself and Aussie actor Chris Hemsworth in the lead roles of Anastasia Steele and Christian Grey. "Anyway, I've heard there's lots of campaigns by fans pushing other brunette actresses but I guess I should thank this person who went to all that trouble."
The "Like Crazy" actress added, "There's always a place for immensely well-crafted cinema, but, at the same time, it's important we have fresh, unusual ideas with no budgets coming through the digital media."
Jones has spoken about playing the highly coveted lead role before. In mid-December, Jones told the Telegraph's Mandrake that playing Anastasia Steele would be "very exciting." She also added that the nudity of the role would not bother her.
However, Jones, faces some tough competition for the role from several fan favorites, including Alexis Bledel ('Gilmore Girls'), Nina Dobrev ('The Vampire Diaries') and Emilia Clarke ('Game of Thrones'). In the latest fan poll, Jones came in third place after Clarke (34.28 percent) and Bledel (27.59 percent).
Despite on-going rumors of who will play both lead roles, author E.L. James and screenwriter Kelly Marcel have told reporters that no casting decisions will be made until the script is written and director is chosen. Marcel is joined by producers Mike De Luca and Dana Brunetti on the project.
'50 Shades of Grey' has not established a release date.
