Justin Timberlake is about to end his six year music hiatus on Monday, when he releases...something.
"A surprise countdown on the singer's website promises that something -- expected to be a new single - will be released at the beginning of next week," writes The Guardian.
"According to Billboard and the Hollywood Reporter, Timberlake has recorded around 20 songs for his third solo album."
The video accompanying the countdown follows Timberlake on a stroll through a building, ending in a recording studio.
"Someone asked me the other day, 'So are you just done with music?'" says Timberlake in a voiceover.
"It means more to me than anyone else in the world. Look I've only done two albums in 10 years, that's the way I really look at it What does the next decade mean for me? I'm the one that sits and is obsessive about it before you even get to hear it. As close as I get to it, I don't know that I could physically torture myself year in and year out and expect it to fulfill me the way that it does and the way that it is right now. I don't wanna put anything out that I feel like is something I don't love, you just don't get that everyday. You have to wait for it."
The video ends with Timberlake places headphones over his ears and saying, "I'm ready."
Bieber, that other Justin, tweeted his support. "@jtimberlake @Timbaland i have heard some stuff. u got a good reason to be ready. #greatmusic"
Response from the rest of Twitter has been no less enthusiastic, with many users simply assuming the announcement refers to a new album.
"Destiny's Child & @jtimberlake announcing new music this week... I think this means world peace is possible after all," tweeted @triplyksis.
"@jtimberlake I'm so happy cuz U're BACKÄ°N' !!!!! :D," tweeted @niedlichhexe.
"@jtimberlake I can't concentrate on school because of you!!! #JT2013," tweeted "@MikaylaRagovin.
"The fact that Justin Timberlake is making music again is enough for me to keep living an extraordinarily happy life. @jtimberlake," tweeted @hardavebirk.
Nothing will be official until Monday morning, which might see the relase of a single, or perhaps an entire album.
The end of the countdown could also be the announcement of a music release sometime this year, or even a collaboration involving MySpace, which Timberlake invested in recently.
