The 92nd Miss America pageant is set for this Saturday, and Alabama is looking for a victory.
Representing Alabama at the 2013 Miss America is Anna Laura Bryan from the town of Decatur.
Bryan is looking to succeed the 2012 winner, Miss Wisconsin's Laura Kaeppeler, after Miss Alabama 2011 Courtney Porter finished in the Top 13.
Bryan, who won Miss Alabama 2012, has also won the title of Miss Hover. She's a graduate of Stanford University with the ambition to attend graduate school to focus on design in order to become a Registered Interior Designer and work for an Architecture Firm. Bryan is a member of Dean's List, Gamma Sigma Alpha Greek Academic Honor Society, Samford University Academic Achievement Scholarship
The last time Alabama won the Miss America crown was in 2005 with Deidre Downs, hailing from Birmingham.
The Miss America pageant touts itself as among the nation's largest scholarship providers for young women with $45 million in cash and scholarship assistance made available last year. The winner of Miss America does not get the entire prize as portions of the scholarship are made available to over 12,000 other women who compete in state and local competitions.
The annual Miss America pageant will be live on Saturday at 9 p.m. EST on ABC.
