One of the most anticipated titles in development for the Wii U is the upcoming Zelda title. Just a few days ago, a set of rumors spread indicating that the new title could potentially include a romance between Zelda and Link in addition to two different kinds of control schemes and even voice acting. A number of these additions would be firsts in the series, but it seems that most fans want Nintendo to take a few steps backward for the next Wii U Zelda.
According to N4G, fans have updated the long running petition for a Wii U remake of the popular "The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask." The petition was created by Gamer Girl Tay but had expired. On January 4, it was renewed in hopes of convincing Nintendo to remake the classic title. The petition was created in response to a video made in the summer of 2012 by "a team of industry veterans."
The video was put up on YouTube by Pablo Belmonte and Paco Martinez in July and was immediately met with a tremendous reception. Those who saw the video thought it was legitimate until Belmonte and Martinez clarified their intentions with the video.
The two stated that: "We are creating this small test for the "big N (as Nintendo is often referred to)" as a proposal to make this project true. We work in the game industry and we are in love with this idea [for a] long time ago. The music [is] totally provisional. We worked for long time in concepts and designs, but for the real production we [spent] only one (hard) week, that's the reason for some "bugs" in animations and postproduction that we want to fix soon. We hope that you enjoy and help us with your support"
The video lasts one minute and 44 seconds and depicts one of the opening scenes in the game which feature Deku Link and the Mask vender. The new petition is closing in on 200 of the 5,000 supporters it wants. It can be found here.
Nintendo remade the original Nintendo 64 classic "The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time" for the Nintendo 3DS in 2011. The game's story and main adventure was left intact, but the new version saw the implementation of better visuals and new controls. It also included new features including an alternative adventure that was not present on the original version of the game. Fans are hoping that a "Majora's Mask" remake would get a similar treatment.
