Lolo Jones, the American track and field athlete who specializes in the 100 meter hurdles, told HBO sportscaster Mary Carillo in an interview her thoughts about being a virgin.
The attractive 29-year-old American opened up to Carillo about her sex-life, or better yet, lack thereof.
"I want to wait until I'm married to have sex," Jones said. "I just want to have that solemn bond. It's a gift I want to give to my husband," she continued.
She then confessed her struggle with regards to abstaining from sex with, "But please understand this journey has been hard...It's the hardest thing I've ever done in my life. Harder than training for the Olympics, harder than graduating from college has been trying to stay a virgin for marriage. I've been tempted; I've had plenty of opportunities."
She also told Carillo that some guys tried to have sex with her telling that it would help her run faster.
Apart from sex, Jones has had some struggles of her own in life.
During an ESPN documentary broadcasted on Monday night, Jones said she was a "professional shoplifter" in elementary school due to her family's financial woes while living in Des Moines.
She shared that instead of shoplifting for apparel accessories the same way teen shoplifters tend to do so, she stole frozen dinners.
"I was shoplifting frozen dinners at a grocery store. I could shoplift four frozen dinners, easily," she said according to Freep.com.
Jones is aspiring to compete in the Olympics this year. In order to do so, she will have to qualify in a track meet in Eugene, Oregon in late June.
Jones has won gold medals in the 60 meter hurdles at the World Indoor Championships of 2008 in Valencia and 2010 in Doha.
Jones in the both shows made no announcements of being in a formal relationship.
