The mid-season premiere of 'Bones' will give fans, not one, but two fresh new episodes with Booth (David Boreanaz), Brennan (Emily Deschanel) and the gang. The last episode of Fox's hit crime drama, entitled "The Ghost in the Machine," forced the team at the Jeffersonian to solve the murder of a young 14-year-old boy named Colin Gibson.
Brennan was unable to remain detached from the case emotionally, especially since she now has a little girl of her own with Booth. The episode ended with the group solving Colin's murder and giving his spirit an opportunity to finally move on.
The upcoming episodes, entitled "The Diamond in the Rough" and "The Archeologist in the Cocoon," will see the gang solve two very different crimes. The first episode of the night, "The Diamond in the Rough," will have Booth and Brennan reprising their Buck and Wanda Moosejaw characters to go undercover during a ballroom dancing television competition. As always, you can count on Brennan to give the case her all, which in this case involves her getting really into her dancing persona.
In the second episode of premiere night, "The Archeologist in the Cocoon," will have the team solve a historic crime while they research the death of an archeologist with "a questionable reputation," Fox teased.
What else is in store for the team at the Jeffersonian? TV Line reported that Brennan will have a near-death experience where she'll meet her mother again. Executive producer Stephen Nathan told TV Line, "This is the further evolution of Brennan's character. She is somebody who has been so literal, so rational and so reasonable; she wants everything to be explained. And now she is having an experience that is inexplicable, so she has to admit that there are things that are not explainable. As much as she tries to discount it and dismiss it, it changes her and makes her a bit more open to the world." That episode is set to air in February.
'Bones' S8E10 and S8E11 air on Monday, January 14 at 9 p.m. EST on Fox.
