Former Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi is having a bad year. After being sentenced to four years in jail for tax evasion and being barred from political office, the fallen politician now must give his second divorced wife Veronica Lario $46 million per year.
Berlusconi, who won the PM seat in 1994, 2001, and 2008, was the subject of a scolding sex scandal that reached its breaking point in 2009 when he was photographed at the birthday party of 18-year old model Noemi Letizia.
"He never attended the 18th birthday parties of his children," said Lario. "I cannot stay with a man who frequents minors."
The Australian reports that, in addition to alimony, Lario will also be granted the mansion that they shared as husband and wife, and leave "her children with their present 7.5 percent stakes in the Fininvest family holding company."
At 76, Berlusconi is currently engaged to "former TV showgirl" Francesca Pascale. While his political career has been largely marred by bad press and legal charges in the past several years, Silvio will reportedly file an appeal on his sentence, which could potentially result in a legal clean slate for the former-PM.
