Apple will reportedly fuse iOS 6 and smart technology in an upcoming watch coming early 2013, according "supply chain sources" close to Chinese tech blog Tech163.com (via Business Insider). The smart watch will likely have a 1.5-inch screen and bluetooth, alongside a suite of unannounced features.

If the rumors pan out, Apple's product would join Sony's SmartWatch in the fledgling market for connected accessories. Aside from running Android, the SmartWatch sports a 1.42inch screen, bluetooth, and a multi-touch color OLED display. Sony's official site advertises the device's ability to "download apps for your smartphone lifestyle from Google Play, control your music player from your wrist," and use fitness apps to accommodate "an active lifestyle." Expect Apple's smart watch to offer comparable features and open up a new submarket within the App Store for exercise-related software.

As a result of Apple's new biannual smartphone release schedule, the Cupertino-based company will also be pumping out the iPhone 5S and iPhone 6 as 2013 progresses, as well as new iterations of the iPad, iPad mini, iMac, and iPod.

Business Insider notes that Kickstarter backers have already funded the production of an iOS watch, so Apple is no doubt aware of a desire for such an accessory.
