Miss Universe 2012 has come to a close, but a considerable amount of preparation goes into pulling off such an extravagant event, requiring contestants to take part in months of physical conditioning. Olivia Culpo (USA), Renae Ayris (Australia), and Jennifer Andrade (Honduras) spoke to E! Online prior to the competition and revealed a few secrets behind their fitness regiments.
Renae Ayris, who was awarded third-runner up, explains, "I just try to do at least twenty minutes of exercise a day. I do a lot of cycling, which is my favorite thing to do. I try to drink a lot of water while I'm here. Especially with this [Nevada] humidity."
Culpo, now crowned Miss Universe, admits that she doesn't spend a lot of time at the gym, but instead does "a lot of squats and toe touches, standing crunches, sitting crunches, side crunches, planks, pushups, sit-ups, and pull-ups. There's so much you can do without any equipment."
Miss Honduras notes, "Pilates has been really good for me. Because I was working out with a personal trainer and I was starting to look like a body builder, so I started doing Pilates and it really helped lean me lean out."
The contestants suggest carrying a healthy snack with you while on the go to sate any cravings. Since her victory at Miss Universe 2012, Olivia has taken the national stage and spoken out on gun control and mariijuana legalization. Click here for more details.
