The latest update for the iOS 6 operating system might have added a new bug to iPhone and iPad Mini devices.

According to forum members on Apple's Support Communities, battery issues remain to be an issue after installing the iOS 6.0.2 update.

iPhone owners commented on their stories on Apple's Support Communities:

atdguy: I loaded IOS 6.0.2 yesterday.  Unfortunately it only partially fixed my wifi issues (I already have several posts about my wifi issues). But, to my complete and utter frustration, it introduced a NEW ISSUE I was not having before -- it is absolutely draining my battery.  I can usually get through a day with about 75% of my battery power remaining.  Today I've gone through 90% and I've done nothing special with it.

jheaven: I am having the same issue.  Before updating to iOS 6.0.2 last night I never had wi-fi or battery issues at all.  Would easily make it all day with general use (Facebook, texts, phone calls) with ending up with 40% at the end of the day before recharging.  Today I barely used my phone at all, and I noticed I was down to 40% after 3 hours of being off the charger.  This is a significant change in battery drain.  Apple please fix this issue asap.  I am using iphone 5, At&t.

martin.w91: I haven't noticed any battery drain issues, but now the update started giving me wifi issues on my iP5. Says unable to connect to wifi network and then the network doesn't show up anymore. Tried restarting the phone as well as reseting network settings, but all it does is it makes the network appear but then does what I mentioned above again.

Jakeman007: I just got off the phone with Apple support....the guy there said they know nothing about any battery issues.  I went to bed with 100% and woke up with 65%.....no applications were running, I have iTunes Match and iCloud turned off.  I also have WiFi turned off.  In the past it would drop maybe 1-2%....sometimes none.

bobackz: My battery is draining quickly as well. I have a 4S and updated recently.

A possible solution might have been provided from forum member muka3d, after a contacting Apple Support:

1. Close all of my apps (using the app switcher; double tap home, press and hold an icon, click the red close button);

2. Go to Settings -> General -> Reset -> Reset All Settings. (Does NOT delete apps or any data; just resets network/iOS settings);

3. Wait for phone to restart;

4. Charge it up to 100 percent and monitor.

Muka3d noted that his iPhone 5 with the iOS 6.0.2 update has been "working perfectly and battery levels are great," adding only one percent of battery life was lost in 12 hours.
