The highly anticipated sequel to 'The Hunger Games,' is one step closer to reaching theaters on November 21, 2013. New tribute actors Sam Claflin (Finnick Odair) and Stephanie Leigh (Cashmere) confirmed on Twitter that the cast had finished filming 'Hunger Games: Catching Fire' in Hawaii on Friday.
Claflin, who plays District 4 tribute in the 75th annual Hunger Games, tweeted, "It's the last day of filming TheHungerGames #CatchingFire and I'm missing it already. Thank you all for making it an incredible experience."
Fellow Quarter Quell tribute, Stephanie Leigh, who plays Cashmere from District 1, also tweeted about the end of filming. "A wonderful chapter in life has come to a close. What an amazing blessing! My thanks go to God,#D1#Cashmere.Had the BEST time! #CatchingFire"
The two actors joined 'Hunger Games' leads Jennifer Lawrence (Katniss Everdeen), Josh Hutcherson (Peeta Mellark) and Liam Hemsworth (Gale Hawthrone) in filming the second installment of the popular Suzanne Collins series in Georgia and Hawaii. Set photos from the Hawaii set have leaked online in recent weeks, showing Lawrence, Hutcherson and Claflin taping key arena scenes along the beach.
The second film, 'The Hunger Games: Catching Fire,' is based on the sequel to Collins' popular book series by the same name. 'Catching Fire' will focus on the 75th annual Hunger Games, also known as the third Quarter Quell, and will pick up shortly after the 74th annual Hunger Games victors Katniss and Peeta (District 12) set off to the Victors Tour of Panem. The couple will then head to the Quarter Quell with their mentor Haymitch Abernathy (Woody Harrelson).
'Catching Fire' director Francis Lawrence-no relation to the actress-will direct the series' third and fourth films, 'Mockingjay' Parts 1 and 2, Lionsgate announced in November. In early December, actor turned screenwriter Danny Strong confirmed that he will write the two-part 'Mockingjay' screenplays.
'The Hunger Games: Catching Fire' will hit theaters on November 21, 2013.
