Apple's new iPad Mini hasn't even been out for two months, but it looks like the Cupertino tech giant is already making preparations for an iPad Mini 2. Rumor has it Apple could release the iPad Mini 2 as early as spring 2013.
"iPad Mini Gen-2: Apple's gen-2 iPad mini is getting pulled-in, and is likely to have several new suppliers, with TXN gaining content," RBC Capital Markets analyst Doug Freedman wrote.
The words "pulled in" refer to the fact that Apple is speeding up production of an iPad Mini, according to CNET.
Freedman based his report after visiting chip comanies in China.
This could mean the iPad Mini 2 might release sometime in spring 2013. Apple has been rumored to be moving more towards a 6-month cycle for its iPhones, and this could include iPads as well since the iPad 4 released less than a year after the iPad 3.
Website DigiTimes reported earlier that industry insiders told them the iPad Mini 2 would feature an HD Retina display.
"The sources have yet to specify whether the device will use Apple's Retina Display technology to enhanced resolution, but market observers said it is highly likely based on the development of past Apple products such as the iPhone and 9.7-inch iPad series," DigiTimes writes.
Of course, nothing has been said by Apple regarding the iPad Mini 2 so remember to keep all of this in the realm of speculation.
