As expected, Roberto Carlos is close to possibly joining the coaching staff of Real Madrid.
Just recently, Carlos was in the headlines for saying that he can lure Neymar of Barcelona to Real Madrid if he wanted to. He apparently has close ties with the 23-year-old forward and both are obviously from Brazil.
Carlos was, of course, speaking after the 2015 FIFA Ballon d’Or awards where Neymar finished third in voting behind teammate Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo. Carlos believes that Neymar may have better chances of being feted as the world’s best with a change of scenery via Managing Madrid.
However, Carlos’ role in making all that possible can only materialize if he hooks up with Real Madrid. As mentioned in a previous post, the only way that can happen is if and when former teammate Zinedine Zidane takes the initiative and reaches out to him.
According to Carlos, talks have already begun and it seems he is pretty much bent on coming onboard.
“I had a meeting with Real Madrid about my future with the club,” says Carlos via Marca.com. “Soon I will know how I can collaborate with Zidane’s Madrid.”
It may only be a matter of time before Carlos is officially appointed but this early, he believes that Real Madrid is in good hands with Zidane at the helm.
"Zidane is a leader in the dressing room. His personality is going to make him very successful. A coach has to befriend his players and Benítez struggled to form a bond with them".
Speaking of the appointment, it seems that the time has come for the 42-year-old former Brazil fullback to come on board per the Bleacher Report.
Newly appointed manager Zidane already has plans involving Carlos. He will be tasked to work with senior and youth teams, proof that his duties have already been mapped out by the recently appointed manager.
Aside from that, the more pressing issue here is whether he can indeed bring in Neymar from Barcelona.
To date, Neymar hasn’t hinted at possibly wanting to play somewhere else such is not discounted though the task of doing so could be hard with Barcelona likely to do everything to keep him at Camp Nou.
In fact, there are some like Thiago Silva who believe that it would be easier to signing either Lionel Messi or Cristiano Ronaldo if the opportunity exists.
"It would perhaps be easier for Barcelona to let go of Messi. Could Messi come to PSG (Paris Saint-Germain)? Perhaps ... I mean, why not? Everything is possible...” says Silva via ESPN FC.
