Reports say that Spanish actor Javier Bardem is in talks to co-star with Jennifer Lawrence in a film helmed by "Black Swan" director Darren Aronofsky. According to Variety, the drama is about "a couple whose relationship is tested when uninvited guests arrive at their home, disrupting their tranquil existence."

Although details about the upcoming project is scarce, word has it that the Bond baddie had been the director's top choice for the role after he got Lawrence's commitment for the film.

"If Bardem is cast as Lawrence's significant other, the romantic pairing will mark her biggest age divide yet in film-a small casting slight to those actors closer to Lawrence's age," the entertainment news source observed. "But, in the film's premature defense, maybe Bardem's age is pivotal to the story."

/FILM also said that Bardem's casting in the film was made more definite after Idris Elba, one of those considered for the same part, backed out to star in "The Dark Tower."

The project will be distributed by Paramount Pictures, which also did distribution duties for Aronofsky's "Noah," which did not do well in the U.S. but made money abroad.

"Aronofsky will direct, write and produce the film through Protozoa Pictures together with Scott Franklin and Ari Handel," Fox News Latino said. "Both filmmaker and studio aim to kick off the shoot this spring and premiere it in movie theaters sometime in 2017."

If indeed Bardem commits to the project, the tandem will be a compelling one as both actors are Oscar winners, with Aronofsky himself nominated for "Black Swan" in 2010.

Lawrence had previously spoken about wanting to work with the director, saying that she was a fan of his work, aside from that of her go-to director David O. Russell, who directed her in "Silver Linings Playbook," "American Hustle," and "Joy" and consequently turned her into an annual shoo-in for acting awards.

"I had the same reaction to him that I did with David [O. Russell] when I first discovered David's films," she revealed to Entertainment Weekly in an interview. "I watched 'I Heart Huckabees' 11 times. I'm not joking."

"I watched all of his films repeatedly and then I did the same thing with Darren," she went on. "These are two directors in my life who I have spent an obsessive weekend with. I started with 'The Wrestler' and I went nuts from there."
