Will we be hearing a new Christina Aguilera album after four long years?
The singer recently sparked rumors of new music after she shared a snap on Instagram showing her working in a recording studio Saturday. The photo had no caption, which only fueled the new album rumors. It showed her wearing headphones and standing near an overhead microphone while noting something on the sheet before her.
Fans may not be surprised at this hint, although it's nonetheless an exciting development, as the diva had already revealed early last year that a new record is on the horizon.
"During my pregnancy, I had a meeting with [Pharrell] and just connected on where I want to take the next album," she was quoted by Billboard as saying last year. "And we started talking music, and he has one song in particular that I love."
Since then, no album had materialized, although Aguilera managed to appear in various singles since her last record.
"The singer appeared on the 'Finding Neverland' musical concept album with 'Anywhere But Here,' and scored her first Hot Country Songs title with 'Shotgun' after appearing on ABC's 'Nashville,'" Billboard noted.
Aguilera's last studio release was "Lotus," which was launched in 2012. Since then, she had collaborated on a number of tracks, such as Pitbull's "Feel This Moment" and A Great Big World's "Say Something."
In 2014, the singer spent the year promoting the latter track and also giving birth to her second child, Summer Rain, who was born in August.
In October last year, she revealed that she had been thinking about songs to include in her next album, which reportedly is inspired by "yoga and breathing," according to Pop Crush.
"Taking a love for yoga and breathing...not looking at it as an exercise, but just feeling more one with the Earth and everyone being connected, it'll definitely have a reflection on the new record," she told ABC News in a previous interview.
It also appears she may be releasing a follow up to "Mi Reflejo," the Spanish-language album she released in 2000. Aguilera had also said she's eyeing a 2016 release date for her album(s).
The 35-year-old artist will be returning to "The Voice" on its 10th season this year. The show will allegedly premiere February 2016 but may not air until some time in March or April, Bustle said.
An album release coinciding on her return to the reality singing competition would be great timing. As such, it does look like Xtina will be unleashing a set of new songs this year. What do you think?
