The Force is definitely strong with Oscar Isaac!
Recently famous for playing Poe Dameron in "Star Wars: The Force Awakens," the 36-year-old actor won best actor at the 2016 Golden Globe Awards this Sunday, his first Golden Globe, for playing Yonkers Mayor Nick Wasicsko in HBO's limited series "Show Me a Hero."
However, the award is far from the only thing that makes him worthy of the accolades.
In 2015, Oscar Isaac had been everywhere - doing interviews on primetime as well as appearing on television and in a host of movies. With his natural talent and charm, he has won the hearts of his fellow cast members and fans alike.
Below are 10 reasons why it's hard not to fall in love with Oscar Isaac.
1. He plays a lead role in one of history's biggest films
It's impossible not to include Poe Dameron in this list. The box office hit, and probably the highest-earning movie of all time, "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" stars Isaac as Poe Dameron, the charismatic young pilot of the Resistance's Starfighter Corps. Being a lead character, he's also set to appear in "Star Wars Episode VIII."
2. He's a family guy
Speaking of "Star Wars," Isaac knows his uncle is a huge fan of the franchise. Knowing this, he took his uncle to the set one day, which led to his uncle snagging a role.
Check out details in the video below.
Isaac also gave one of the best interviews this year to his brother, according to Screen Rant. Mike Hernandez, Isaac's brother, is a journalist for the Miami New Times. In the interview, the two spoke about their childhood and "the internet's art of Isaac." After the interview, they simply played "Street Fighter." What a way to end an interview!
3. He's generous to his fans
Oscar Isaac might have won for "Show Me A Hero," but most of the questions backstage didn't veer far from "Star Wars: The Force Awakens." To please all his fans, Isaac didn't blink an eye and just gave his phone number to anyone who has "Star Wars" questions, according to Variety.
"Isn't it time now? Look, I'm here, I'll put my number out there if anyone has any questions," the actor exclaimed.
4. He doesn't discriminate
In one "Star Wars" interview, Isaac said he'd want a rainbow lightsaber if he had one. He added that for him, droid genders are unimportant because gender is fluid. He even said that he's willing to cosplay as the Gonk Droid.
5. He has a big heart
When he made his acceptance speech at the Golden Globes, Isaac dedicated his award to the real-life widow of his character.
"This is for you Nay and the memory of Nick," he said.
On getting the part for the housing segregation and municipal law miniseries, Isaac said, "I had to take a moment to think about it." However, he said that after seeing a video of Nick and speaking to his widow Nay Noe, "My heart broke for them. I wanted to tell their story and really try to understand this difficult time that wasn't so long ago."
Speaking about diversity in Hollywood and his "Star Wars" role, we think he spoke for every Latin aartist when he said in earnest, "the guy from 'Star Wars' is definitely not Latino. He's from a galaxy far, far away. It's difficult for people who look like not the status quo in this country to get great roles. I feel humbled and honored and blessed to have been able to do that. Hopefully, that will happen more."
Meanwhile, another film which he's starred in, "Ex Machina," has also done well in the awards race. Speaking about the film's recognition, he said:
"The people found 'Ex Machina.' I'm very moved by that. It's incredible, it's hard to fathom this year. I'm very blessed and humbled by everything that's happening."
6. He can dance
Speaking of "Ex Machina," Oscar Isaac's scene is one of the most talked about in the 2015 film. In the film, he was seen disturbed, intoxicated and dancing, a scene which gave viewers a good laugh, but it's also a scene telling audiences that Isaac is capable of anything.
7. He's funny
Not only is he talented in serious acting, but he can be a good comedic actor to boot.
This was proven in the 2015 film "Mojave," a film penned and helmed by William Monahan. Making its debut at the Tribeca Film Festival in April 2015, the film is about a game of cat and mouse, and Oscar Isaac plays the homicidal maniac and literature-loving Jack, who's on the hunt for Hollywood star Thomas (Garrett Hedlund).
While the film didn't receive critical acclaim, Isaac's Jack has become a highlight in "Mojave," showcasing that he can both do drama and comedy.
8. He's not afraid to take on different roles
He's the good guy in "Star Wars," but in "X-Men: Apocalypse," he's the main villain, and a powerful and intensely sinister one at that. No doubt, his portrayal of the titular villain will be one of the most talked about performances yet again.
9. He can sing and play the guitar
He's an actor, he dances, he plays the guitar and he sings - what more could we ask for? He doesn't just sing too, he croons.
When he spoke with Interview magazine last year, he admitted that he's a musician and that he had been playing the guitar since he was 12. He eventually joined several bands due to his love of music.
"I don't know if they were all functioning, but I did play in a bunch of bands. I was sort of a musical whore, so I played in industrial bands, hardcore bands, punk-ska bands---all sorts of bands," he told the magazine.
To promote "Star Wars," he also did a cover of Bill Murray's "Star Wars" theme song performance, but Isaac made up new lyrics for the new characters.
10. He's not into kiss and tell
According to Latina, Isaac has been in a 10-year relationship with Maria Miranda, but their romance is far from a public affair. Isaac chooses to keep his relationships on the down low. The two got engaged in 2007 at Christmas, but he always makes sure not to comment about his love life during interviews.
Finally, Oscar Isaac is getting the love that he deserves!
