With the theatrical release of "Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens," it seems that for every answer that the film gave, at least two more questions arose.
The good news is that Comic Book Resources is reporting that there are several books that fans can get hold of that could answer questions about the film that might have been missed.
The first book that is recommended for fans is the "Star Wars: The Force Awakens Visual Dictionary," which is being described as the largest information per page count ratio. This is due to the fact that this book has the most pictures in it.
The material is written by Pablo Hidalgo, and really gives out a lot information about the decades between "Return of the Jedi" and "The Force Awakens." Information about the resistance formation by General Leia, as well as the information behind the construction of Kylo Ren's lightsaber, is talked about.
The next book is the actual novel for "The Force Awakens" written by Alan Dean Foster. During the days before The Force Awakens, Foster was given a copy of the script by Lucasflims, and the book is consider cannon.
There are many details that may have been missed by the film due to time constraints or editing. Hti Fix was able to go through some of them.
For example, in the novelization, there is actually a whole scene dedicated to Poe Dameron's escape from Jakku. In the film, he was thought dead until seen again at the resistance base. While some may think of that as a minor plot point, many had to take a leap of faith just believing that Poe survived the crash and somehow made it back to the base in one piece.
However, one of the most interesting pieces of information that was placed in the novelization was when Kylo Ren was torturing Rey on the Star Killer base. In the film, Kylo states that she resists the attempts to get the information about the map from her.
However, the book was able to detail the scene much better, and through the magic of internal narration, it seems that Kylo Ren unlocked Rey's latent Force powers but turned down a barrier that was placed in Rey's mind without her knowing it.
This could explain why she was able to mind trick the guards to allow her out after Kylo left the room.
There are a lot more questions that the books could answer if fans of the film want to know more about the characters.
Both "Star Wars: The Force Awakens: Visual Dictionary" and the "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" novelization are available for purchase.
