CM Punk (Phil Brooks) continues to be indisposed and he has yet to make his much-awaited debut in the UFC. However, it seems that Dana White has found the perfect fighter to welcome him into the fold.

White seems to be inclined to set up with Punk is a lad named Mickey Gall, a newcomer.

Gall made quite an impression in his professional debut, submitting his opponent and then making the most out of it by offering himself as Punk’s possible debut opponent.

Though White seemed a bit surprised at what Gall was angling on, he simply told the newcomer that “I like where your head’s at” as he congratulated him for winning is first pro match via MMA Junkie.

With that in the air, the long-standing question on who Punk would eventually face as his first opponent in the UFC may have been partially answered. White will put Gall under consideration but that doesn’t make him a shoe-in to be Punk’s opponent for now.

Apparently, all that would depend on when Punk is up and ready to enter the Octagon. The last we heard of Punk was that he was set back by a shoulder injury in the latter part of 2015 and such has led some UFC stars to question if Punk will ever debut in the Octagon for real.

Among the ones who aired their piece include Daniel Cormier and Kenny Florian. Apparently both were interested to see if Punk would indeed make his debut by December 2015 but nothing really materialized. And with that happening, they now pose a question on whether the former WWE star will ever be ready to get a taste of UFC action in the Octagon.

Fast forward to 2016, there is now growing belief that Punk could be part of UFC 200 though it still depends on how his training goes.

Duke Roufus apparently heard of the pieces of Cormier and Florian to which he responded five Fox Sports.

“I respect those guys a lot, they’re great analysts but they don’t see the work that we’re doing daily and fans, they’re going to find out some stuff this year about CM Punk.”

Adding the pieces together, it seems that the only thing left to ponder is when Punk will be ready. Time is definitely not on his side, not to mention his age (37 years old). And the longer it takes him to make the much-awaited UFC debut, the more fans are losing hope of ever seeing him enter the world of mixed martial arts.
