Two weeks after the Miss Universe 2015 pageant, controversial Miss Colombia finally speaks up about what she recalls as a "humiliating" experience.
In an article by Fox News Latino, Miss Colombia Ariadna Gutierrez did a radio interview and insisted that no one can take away the few minutes that she was crowned Miss Universe. She described the incident as an "injustice" for her and for her people.
"It was a very big injustice. It was humiliating for me and for all people in Latin America in the auditorium," Gutierrez said. "I have been disconnected, I haven't received any phone calls, just a few people have been able to contact me and it is because I needed to grieve for what happened that night."
During the 2015 Miss Universe pageant that happened in December, Miss Colombia was mistakenly announced as the winner of the beauty pageant by host Steve Harvey. Later on before the show closed, the comedian/host apologized and stated that he wrongfully announced the winner and that the crown in fact belongs to Miss Philippines Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach.
The pageant created uproar among Colombians. Days after the pageant, many fans of the pageant are still attacking each other via social media while defending their chosen winners.
In the interview, Miss Colombia also talked about the adult film offer and the effect of the incident to her loved ones. The beauty queen was rumored to have been offered to do an adult film but Gutierrez firmly said that she would never take such offer.
"I haven't received a formal offer but I would never do it for one million dollars. For an incalculable amount. No, I am joking. I will never do it. No, my parents would kill me," Ariadna said.
She also added that although she wished to bring joy to Colombians and her family by bringing home the Miss Universe crown, she realized that she needs to move on with her life.
In another report by Huffington Post, although she was slammed by a lot of critics when she posted a photo of herself wearing the crown, she did eventually congratulate the rightful winner and said that everything happens for a reason.
"I managed to make history, which I think is more important than winning the Miss Universe title," Gutierrez said. "As we say in Colombia, we killed two birds with one stone: I got Miss Universe and now I am free to accept all the job proposals I want."
