Roman Reigns is on top of the WWE world right now but by far, he has his work cut out for him.
After snagging the WWE heavyweight title after so many drawbacks, Reigns needs to find a way to keep himself the main man in the roster. And no other person knows this all too well other than Stone Cold Steve Austin who has been there.
Speaking at the PWTorch Livecast, Austin has been following the storyline involving Reigns. And for someone who has perhaps followed a similar journey, Austin believes that Reigns needs to do more to keep his stay on the top a good one.
Austin bares that the pressure is on for Reigns. He is obviously aware of the ride that Reigns had to endure, particularly the time when WWE fans were not yet ready to accept Reigns as the “Top Dog”.
He was witness to the work that Reigns had to undergo and saw the marked improvement/s that Reigns has had with the help of storylines and the aid of his co-WWE stars.
Austin adds that it takes more than just showing up and winning matches to gain the admiration of fans. He needs to be creative and showcase a surreal performance to prove to fans that he deserves to be where he is right now and perhaps for years to come.
“All he’s got to do is shine, but the bottom line is he’s got to shine. He’s got to make chicken salad out of chicken scratch,” says Austin.
Further, Austin adds that it is more than just survival right now. It is all about how to take it to another level and prove his worth. Of course, the WWE great is aware that doing such every night is close to impossible but in the end, it may be all about bucking the odds and dealing with adversities as they come.
Right now, Reigns continues to feud with Sheamus and the “League of Nations”. But the solo storyline involving the Big Dog has yet to come out. Vince McMahon has entered the fray to make his life hard, a good sign considering it is the same route that Austin, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and John Cena had before establishing themselves as icons in the WWE.
Reigns is scheduled to face off against Sheamus at WWE Raw tomorrow and chances are he will still be champion by the show’s end. But the interesting part in all this is what new diabolical twists the WWE creative team has in store as we head towards the first WWE PPV for the year – the 2016 Royal Rumble.
