After reporting that the Samsung Galaxy S7 would be debuting at a higher price because of an iris scanner yesterday, new rumors pertaining to the highly awaited release of the next Samsung Galaxy flagship have cropped up.
This time around, the Samsung Galaxy S7 models will reportedly come out in two sizes.
A report from the Economic Times of Korea bares that Samsung will be releasing two variants – a 5.2-inch and 5.5-inch variant with curved sides.
It seems that the varying sizes lead to the the Samsung Galaxy S7 as the one likely donning the 5.2-inch screen and the Galaxy S7 Edge sporting the larger 5.5-inch screen. Of the two, however, it seems that the Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge will continue to don the usual curved display.
CNet adds that Samsung is ready with about 5 million stocks of the said devices in total. Up to 3.3 million Galaxy S7 devices and 1.7 million devices of the Galaxy S7 Edge are prepped for the rumoured debut.
Speaking of debuts, that is perhaps the best thing to look out for now. There have been varied rumors on when Samsung would officially release their next flagship.
There is word that it could be at the Las Vegas Consumer Electronic Show while others believe it could debut when Samsung holds its annual “Unpacked” event, which is held weeks before the 2016 Mobile World Congress that will be on Feb. 22, 2016.
With the Galaxy S7 potentially nearing its release, it remains to be seen if there would be more rumors on the horizon.
Aside from the iris scanner which will be a reason behind the jacked up prices for the upcoming Samsung Galaxy flagships, there were already a lot of other rumors out in the open in recent weeks.
These include the presence of a USB Type-C and a pressure-sensitive display which is likened to Apple’s patented 3D Touch present on the iPhone 6S and 6S Plus.
Previously, there were also rumors pertaining to the type of processors Samsung would release.
GSM Arena recalls that there is a chance that there will be four versions of the next flagship. This would be the likely scenario if the Korean company is indeed coming out with devices sporting an Exynos 8890 and/or Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 chipset.
Thus far, those have been the popular rumors tied up with the Samsung Galaxy S7 features and specs, and as the days continue to pass, expect more leaks to come out.
