Unless you own an Amazon Prime subscription, it may be too late to find the perfect Christmas gift.
That doesn't mean local brick-and-mortar retailers won't have solid last-second alternatives, especially with many of them staying open late into Thursday night. After all, Christmas Eve shopping is just as much a part of the holiday shopping season and Black Friday.
According to retail coupon website RetailMeNot, over 90 percent of Americans resort to last-second shopping during the holidays. Ironically, six out of 10 said they preferred visiting a store rather than buying online in fear that they packages won't arrive on time.
It's understandable, to a point. Inspiration for the perfect gift may come late or work and school duties may hinder shoppers from putting thought into it. But that leaves them with a narrow window. Instead of strolling through multiple shops they have to decide on one or two.
That's where superstores come in. Let's take a look at Christmas Eve shopping hours for some of the bigger retailers.
Best Buy
Stores will close at 6 p.m. on Dec. 24 but will stay open until 11 p.m. between Dec. 21 - 23. Online shoppers are eligible for free two-day shipping if they order by 11:30 a.m. EST on Tuesday.
J.C. Penney
While closing times vary by location, stores will open bright and early on Thursday. Stores open at 7 a.m. on Christmas Eve and at 6 a.m. the day after Christmas.
Kohl's
The company will stay open for 170 consecutive hours before closing at 6 p.m. on Christmas Eve. Online orders placed by 2 p.m. EST on Dec. 22 will arrive on time, as long as the one-day shipping option is selected.
Target
The embattled chain is offering free shipping for orders placed by Dec. 21, though they give no guarantees they arrive on time. Stores will stay open until 11 p.m. on Christmas Eve.
Toys 'R' Us
Similar to Kohl's, the toy giant will remain open 87 straight hours, beginning at 6 a.m. Monday. Locations will close at 9 p.m. on Thursday, though orders placed online before 4 p.m. can be picked up in-store before closing.
Walmart
America's biggest retail company will stay open until 8 p.m. Customers can pick up orders until 6 p.m. on Wednesday, and those who need them shipped home need to place orders by Tuesday.
