Award winning actress Natalie Portman is set to take on one of her most challenging roles to date---that of former First Lady of the United States Jackie Kennedy Onasis.
Screen Crush reports that the film will be a biopic, looking back at the life and times of the former first lady, and will be titled "Jackie."
"Jackie" will be one of the first feature films done on the former First Lady even though she brought so much to the American culture as well as to the White House.
During her brief time in the White House, Mrs. Kennedy made several major revisions to the décor, some of which still can be seen today. These revisions were first seen by the public in the iconic 1962 Televised White House tour.
The tour helped her husband's administration greatly and rallied public support for his efforts in Cuba and Russia during the Cold War. The administration had been losing public favor at the time due to the Cuban Missile Crisis.
The former First Lady is one of the most popular among the First Ladies in the history of the White House. With her famous hair style and attire, the entire female population during the time found themselves emulating her.
Mrs. Kennedy is also remembered as being next to her husband during his assassination in Dallas, Texas while riding in the presidential motorcade. Her husband died in her arms moments after suffering a fatal gunshot wound to the head. Hours later, she was at the emergency swearing in of Vice President Johnson, still covered in her husband's blood since she refused to change her clothing on Air Force One.
This isn't going to be the first film focusing on Mrs. Kennedy, as the most recent one "Killing Kennedy" debuted in 2013. However, according to Vanity Fair, this film will be focusing on the days leading up, during and the few days after the assassination of her husband and will purely focus on the reaction Mrs. Kennedy had during this time.
The principal filming of "Jackie" is set soon in Paris and is being directed by Pablo Larrain and produced by Black Swan director Darren Aronofsky. Peter Sarsgaard will be playing President Kennedy opposite Portman. The film is looking at a 2017 release date.
