Kim Kardashian placenta news is on once again. According to a new report, the 34-year-old "Keeping Up With The Kardashians" star wants to eat her placenta after giving birth to son Saint in order to avoid postpartum depression.
According to E! Online, the reality star announced the decision to eat her own placenta via her app. She also said that she is simply doing it to avoid postpartum depression.
The website also reported that this isn't the first time that Kim Kardashian has consumed her placenta. She did the same thing following the birth of her first child, daughter North West.
"I heard so many stories when I was pregnant with North of moms who never ate their placenta with their first baby and then had postpartum depression," she disclosed in her app. "But then when they took the pills with their second baby, they did not suffer from depression! So I thought, why not try it? What do I have to lose?"
"I really didn't want the baby blues and thought I can't go wrong with taking a pill made of my own hormones-made by me, for me. I started researching and read about so many moms who felt this same way and said the overall healing process was so much easier," she added.
However, Kim Kardashian eating her placenta isn't as unglamorous as it sounds. Apparently, she transformed her placenta into pills first before consuming them.
She isn't the first Kardashian to try the practice. Kim's 36-year-old sister, Kourtney Kardashian, also ate her placenta giving birth to her third child, son Reign. She also took it in pill form, according to E! Online.
"And when I say 'eat my placenta,' I mean that I'm having it freeze-dried and made into a pill form---not fry it like a steak and eat it (which some people do, BTW)," Kourtney claimed.
As reported by the The Inquisitr, the woman's placenta is formed upon pregnancy. It's a temporary organ that allows the fetus to receive nutrients and oxygen from the mother.
Apparently, eating the placenta has been practiced by some mothers through the years. According to WebMD, the placenta can be consumed raw or fried, with most non-human mammals, such as dogs, even eating it right after birth. It is said that canines bond more with their newborns and are eased of labor pains after eating the placenta.
Other celebrity moms who have eaten their placentas include January Jones and Kim Zolciak, E! Online reported.
