One of the best things that has come out with the recent Netflix "Jessica Jones" series is that it has been able to show the non-costumed super-powered characters in the Marvel universe.
One of these characters is Luke Cage, played by Mike Colter. Cage was one of the biggest surprises coming from the series. The relationship that Luke had with Jessica during the course of the first season has many fans calling out for more.
Fortunately for these fans, Marvel has confirmed that "Luke Cage" will be the next Netflix Marvel Series, and it will still have Mike Colter as the Hero for Hire.
According to Comic Book Resources, Colter states that the beginning of the series will deal with what has transpired during the last few episodes of "Jessica Jones".
For those who have not yet watched "Jessica Jones", the next few paragraphs will contain spoilers, so reader, be warned.
Comic Book reports that there actually has been a substantial amount of time between the ending of season 1 of "Jessica Jones" and the first episode of the "Luke Cage" series.
As seen from the last episode of "Jessica Jones", Kilgrave is dead and Jessica Jones is now a household name. Luke had been mind controlled to blow up his bar, and he is also left to deal with the knowledge that Jessica was the killer of his wife.
That's a lot of information that has be dealt with. For Luke, he also has a whole slew of other demons that he has to deal with before he can move forward in his life.
Colter states that Luke Cage is one of the most human super heroes in the Marvel Universe. Even though he has these incredible powers, he still has to deal with certain things day to day just like any normal person. However, it doesn't hurt that one has super strength and unbreakable skin to help out with these demons.
Other than dealing with his demons, not much else is known about the story for the "Luke Cage" series. It is assumed that Jessica Jones, played by Krysten Ritter, will be making an appearance sometime during the series. It can also be assumed that Luke Cage's best friend form the comics Iron Fist, confirmed to be played by Greg Cipes, will also be making an appearance.
Luke Cage, Jessica Jones and Iron Fist are all confirmed to also take part in the "Defenders" Netflix series.
No specific release date is known for "Luke Cage" but Netflix has stated that the show is set for a 2016 release.
