Gwendoline Christie, most famously known to GOT fans as Lady Brienne of Tarth, teased about how important her character is to the plot of "Game of Thrones" season 6. She also hinted of what she knows about whether Jon Snow is dead or alive. Finally, she revealed how her reel character is very much similar to her real character.
Christie was originally being interviewed by Comic Book for her role in the upcoming "Star Wars: The Force Awakens." The actress conversely volunteered to talk about her role as Brienne of Tarth.
"I absolutely adore and love playing [Brienne of Tarth]," she told Comic Book in an exclusive interview. She, however, refused to divulge her character's next step, saying: "To be horribly disappointing, if I were to venture into that territory, it would be a plot spoiler."
Brienne caught the fans' eyes when she shared her story of why she loved Renly Baratheon. She was especially interesting for being able to be welcomed into Renly's king's guard. The honor was supposed to be exclusive to males and to those who were properly knighted. The fans were all the more captured by her character when she established a mysterious relationship with Jaime Lannister. Fans would like to know more of that relationship as it unfolds in "Game of Thrones" season 6.
Christie shared that she is as much as excited about the next season just like any other fans are. She revealed that she admired the script for the "Game of Thrones" season 6. "I think the scripts for the new season of Game of Thrones are really, truly brilliant, and it is my absolute pleasure to be a part of it," Christie marveled.
Asked whether Jon Snow is alive or dead, Christie was hard to pin down. "I only read my bits in the script, I've got no idea," she said.
In a separate talk with the Interview Magazine, Christie said that there are obvious physical similarities with her and Lady Brienne. They have the same stature, she said. The actress explained that she can connect with Brienne for feeling marginalized because of the way she looks. They are also both very androgynous, she noted. Their difference, on the other hand, is that Lady Brienne is very much physically active, she said. Before joining "Game of Thrones," Christie said she just lie to the sofa all day and eat chocolates.
Meanwhile, HBO released a teaser trailer for "Game of Thrones" season 6 on Dec. 3, 2015. In the trailer, the character of the Three-eyed Raven (Max von Sydow) was heard saying: "We watch, we listen and we remember. The past is already written. The ink is dry." What followed were flashbacks of scenes from the previous seasons, including the scene where Jon Snow (Kit Harington) was lying "dead" after being stabbed. It ended with Bran Stark saying: "They have no idea what's going to happen." The first teaser poster released only showed Jon Snow on it. "HBO" and "April" was also written.
