Award-winning video game developer and publisher CD Projekt Red gives fans of "The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt" something to do to spread the holiday spirit.

In a release published on "The Witcher" website, the company announced that it has a holiday contest for all modders who are engaged in creating fan-made content.

In partnership with Nexus Mods, the contest requires the participants to create a holiday-themed outfit for any of the characters in "The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt."

"It can be an epic armor for Geralt, a christmas hat for Johnny, or candy canes for Nekkers!" CD Projekt Red detailed in the announcement.

According to the release, once the modder finished the mod, all they have to do is upload their creation to Nexus Mods with the tag "Witcher Mod Contest" under the "file admin." A contact form is available in "The Witcher" website which gamers need to fill, including the link to the mod, and send.

The announcement cited that submissions without the link will not be considered.

Moreover, the contest is not only a way for "The Witcher 3" gamers to have something to do this holiday season. CD Projekt Red emphasized that the one winner they will pick will receive a "one-of-a-kind" and "custom made" Witcher sword.

The contest, which will run starting Dec. 12, 2015 to Jan. 5, 2016, is open to all gamers aged 18 and above from all over the world.

Gamers can check the contest rules and regulations through this link.

According to the report by Game Rant, winning the contest will not be an easy task especially with the fact that there are a lot of modders that will surely make the competition tough. Not to mention that the game has a limited modding kit that can be used.

The gaming news outlet also cited that, even though the game does not rely heavily on fan-made content and the "festive" aura does not really fit into it, the contest is still a great move by CD Projekt Red to encourage players of the game to feel the holiday spirit.

Just recently, CD Projekt Red won the "Developer of the Year Award" in The Game Awards 2015 while "The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt" bagged the prestigious "Game of the Year" Award. Hence, this contest might be one of the way of the Polish game developer to show its appreciation to the gaming community.
