OnePlus recently announced the general sale for its OnePlus 2 with a new twist of removing the dreaded “invite only” clause that made its predecessor hard to come by.

However, it seems that the company is applying a new marketing strategy as far as distributing the said device is concerned from here on until who knows when.

That arrangement seems to be somehow similar to the case of another variant, the cheaper OnePlus X, which will be offered once a week via “open sales”, as reported by the Daily Mail recently.

With the OnePlus 2 and OnePlus X out in the open, it seems only normal to look ahead as well to its successor – the OnePlus 3. Apparently, there are now renders for the next device, and Phone Arena believes that the next device could be out in the following months in 2016.

OnePlus has gained notice for offering high specs at a much lower price compared with the iPhone variants. It is here where it got its moniker of being a “flagship killer” that has also been key to its rising popularity with consumer electronic customers.

With that said, in comes the rumors that are of course unofficial until OnePlus confirms any of them.

Heading the list of features that the OnePlus 3 may carry include a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor, an unspecified screen display size that will have a 1080x1920 resolution, a mystery front-facing speakers and possibly something that will come out in two color variants.

Based on the renders over at GSM Arena, it seems that there may be some features taken out as well. That includes the fingerprint reader, which could have been taken out in favor of something better, like maybe an iris scanner.

Of the list, it remains to be seen if the processor and display will be final. While Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 820 chipset is indeed gaining ground (tied up with other upcoming devices), it could still change.

Then, there is the display resolution (1080p), which seems to hint that the company is not yet ready to embrace the QHD shift that most handsets have been adopting already.

The front-facing speakers are equally a curious lot on the render. It somehow calls to mind the BoomSound Speakers that the HTC One M9 carried, according to another piece from Phone Arena. Could the front-speaker renders be at least equal to or better on the rumored OnePlus 3?

Nothing is really set right now, and apparently, there will be more rumored specs coming out in the approaching months for the next variant in the OnePlus line so stay tuned.
