According to Colombian President Juan Manuel Santos, a bomb that was detonated in Bogota inside a transiting bus that killed at least five people was an assassination attempt on ex-Colombian minister Fernando Londoño.
According to Notimex, Colombian authorities are investigating the attack closely, and they believe this incident could be related to the Free Trade Agreement (FTA) with the U.S. that commences this upcoming Tuesday.
Londoño survived the attack and was one of the 19 people listed as injured. Among the killed were two of Londoño's bodyguards and the bus driver.
Colombian media agencies are also reporting that the explosive device was intended to be detonated at Bogota's financial district.
