Last week's episode of 'The Vampire Diaries,' entitled "We'll Always Have Bourbon Street," took Salvatore brothers Damon (Ian Somerhalder) and Stefan (Paul Wesley) down 1942 New Orleans memory lane as they searched for a cure to Elena's (Nina Dobrev) sire bond to Damon. What the two didn't expect was that Elena would refuse to be unsired to her new boyfriend.
The episode suggests that the twosome will remain together for a little while longer despite knowing that she is sired to him. After finding out from Tyler (Michael Trevino) that a sire bond only dictates your actions and not your feelings, Elena decides that she is truly falling in love with Damon. This might strain Damon's relationship with his brother (and Elena's recent ex) Stefan, who thought Damon would order Elena away, effectively breaking the sire bond.
In the show's mid-season finale, entitled "O Come, All Ye Faithful," the gang of Mystic Falls' supernatural beings will be forced to deal with Original Hybrid Klaus (Joseph Morgan) as well as the youngest Gilbert's new-found desires to kill vampires.
Stefan and fellow vampire Caroline (Candice Accola) will be at odds with her maybe boyfriend Tyler over his plans to get rid of Klaus for good. But when Caroline suggests a solution, Tyler's shewolf friend Hayley (Phoebe Tonkin) won't be on board, the network teased.
New couple Elena and Damon will head out to the Gilbert Lake House to help her brother Jeremy (Steven R. McQueen) fight "inner demons" with the help of her best friend Bonnie (Kat Graham) and the mysterious Professor Shane (David Alpay).
The network also spilled that Klaus will make a discovery that lead the group to chaos and violence.
"O Come, All Ye Faithful" airs on Thursday, December 13 at 8 p.m. EST on the CW.
