The Moto X Style is the latest device under the Motorola umbrella to finally get the much awaited Android 6.0 Marshmallow update which hardly comes as a surprise since such was already mentioned weeks ago.
Word about the coming of the Android 6.0 M to the Moto X Style was announced by Motorola senior director David Schuster last Nov. 12 via his Google Plus account. The announcement also included the same Android bump for the 2014 Moto X (2nd Gen) that is situated in Brazil.
The Moto X Style hit the Indian market just last month and came with Android 5.1 Lollipop out of the box. With the roll out, Moto X Style owners can now look forward to the new features and enhancements that Android 6.0 Marshmallow brings.
Among the features to expect include an improved way of permissions on apps, better battery management and expandable storage.
Some folks have had their issues of properly managing apps, some accessing information while also using up some juice. With the new patch, users can be able to select which apps can do so.
With the new Doze feature, Moto X Style owners can look forward to improved battery life since it detects the state of the device that automatically puts it into sleep mode when not in use.
Once this happens, unnecessary apps and background processes running will be shut down, eventually translate to a longer lasting battery and mobile device to use. The Doze feature allows users to select as well which apps they want to stay up even when on standby mode.
Another feature to watch out for is putting the device’s SD card to better use. Traditionally, the external SD card could be only used to store media and files like photos and videos. With the Android 6.0 bump, the SD card can now be used to store and run apps.
Another interesting feature comes in the better volume controls for the device’s ringtone, media and alarm. Details of that can be found on the Android 6.0 Marshmallow changelog for the Moto X Style.
The said update should be available to users over in India soon. To check, simply head on to the device phone settings and check for updates.
As a reminder, it would be best to make sure you have a reliable WiFi connection and have your device charged up to at least 50% during the download and update process.
