Only a few months after the release of the Samsung Galaxy S6, S6 Edge, and S6 Edge Plus, rumors are already pointing to the Korean giant's new flagship devices. Here's everything we know about the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge:
Android Pit revealed that Samsung will feature two processors for the upcoming S7 series. The first will include the Exynos 8890 chipset, while the second will include the Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 chipset. The S7 Edge is also likely to include the new BRITECELL sensor technology in its camera. It will be smaller with its one-micron pixel size, which indicates that a 20-megapixel BRITECELL sensor will lower module height by 17 percent. Solid low light performance will also be provided by its 1.0 µm low light sensitivity, together with the Phase-Detection Auto-Focus (PDAF) and Samsung’s WDR Technology.
The Galaxy S7 Edge is also expected to have a functional ROM. The handset will most likely run on the Android 6.0 Marshmallow out of the box. The device is also expected to feature fast-charging capabilities and a number of accessories such as a unique keyboard cover.
While the Samsung Galaxy S7 is expected to have a 5.2-inch size, the S7 Edge is said to be larger at 5.8-inches.
KnowYourMobile wrote that the Samsung Galaxy S7 series has to be widely marketed and, perhaps, even overhauled, considering how the Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge models failed to perform as well as expected. The company might also decide to recalibrate and feature a completely new design. Both the S7 models are said to be given curved EDGE displays as standard, Stuff reports. There have also been talks about Samsung developing a flexible display panel technology.
There are rumors AT&T is already testing the Samsung Galaxy S7 (model number SM-G930A) and S7 Edge (model number SM-G935A). In the past, Galaxy devices were introduced at around February during the Mobile World Congress. The 2016 MWC is scheduled for Feb. 22 to 25, 2016 in Barcelona, Spain. However, there are speculations that a standalone event to particularly launch the Galaxy S7 Edge will happen. The same report by KnowYourMobile guesses that Samsung might introduce the new Galaxy S7 earlier -- in January 2016.
More updates and details on the Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge are expected soon.
