Bioshock Infinite has been pushed back from its February 26, 2013 released date to March 26, reports IGN.

Creative Director of Irrational Games, Ken Levine, assures fans that the extra month will give the talented development team the opportunity to squash bugs and buff the mechanics of moment-to-moment gameplay to a sheen.

"You know, let's make that narrative scene that much better. Let's do another pass on the timing of that scene. Let's do another balance pass. It's a game we could have shipped in February. It just wouldn't be the game that we think the fans deserve. And that doesn't mean it was far off from that, but they deserve what they deserve. And when we ask people to pony up a lot of money for this game, we have to feel confident that we're giving them something that they deserve," says Levine. "I knew I was going to take some slings and arrow about it, but I always just said: look, at the end of the day, the slings and arrows will go away. The game will last forever."

Irrational Games' resume includes SWAT 4, Freedom Force, Tribes: Vengeance, System Shock 2, and Bioshock. Needless to say, Levine and his crew have earned the trust of gamers throughout their tenure as leaders in the industry.

Bioshock Infinite is currently available for pre-order, and will ship in three editions: the basic game, a Premium Edition, and a Ultimate Songbird Edition. The Premium edition is priced at $79.99 and includes a lithograph, an art book, a keyring, extra in-game upgrades, and a figurine for the upcoming Bioshock-themed board game. The Ultimate Songbird Ediditon costs $149.99 and includes a statue of the Songbird.
