Konami has announced that there will be several major updates to the smash hit "Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain."

For the December DLC package, Yibada reports that a major character will be made available for multiplayer. This character is none other than the cyber ninja himself, Raiden.

For those who are not familiar with the character, Raiden was the main hero in one of the previous MGS installments, namely "Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty." The player started out as Raiden instead of the iconic Solid Snake and was played as the character throughout most of the game. Raiden also got another stand alone action game called, "Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance."

It appears that Raiden will not be using conventional weapons such as a gun or bombs, but instead will be using his trademark sword and possibly cloaking methods. Konami has not yet revealed if you need to unlock the character or simply download him via DLC.

Besides Raiden becoming available, there are other notable changes for the multiplayer mode for the game. Metal Gear Informer reports that one of the biggest updates for the multiplayer mode is that there will be a Host Migration option available.

What this means is that if a host for a game leaves or gets disconnected for some reason, the game itself will not end. In the event of a host getting disconnecting or leaving the room, the match will be reset and another player will be selected as the host. All players in the previous match, except the host who left, will still receive the correct exp from the disconnected match.

Another great feature is the option to turn on or off Walker Gears as well as the weather. Room names can now also be filtered to add this option so that players can find the type of rooms they are looking for faster.

Cameras can now also be placed on landmines for additional efficiency. Players will be given the option of making this a standard setting for their equipment as well as the ability to set the amount of time the camera is active on the land mine.

While the update does not have an exact date attached to it, game developer Konami has confirmed that it will be available before the holiday season come December.
