Naughty Dog saw a massive success with "The Last of Us," which has been highly lauded from its story narrative, gameplay up to its soundtrack. Thus, it was a no-brainer that the video game developer will make a sequel to the action-adventure survival horror video game.
However, in recent reports and rumors popping out, fans of the game might just see the sequel earlier than expected as well as an interesting take on the game's storyline.
Previously, Movie Pilot reported that video game voice Actor Nolan North, who is known for playing Nathan Drake in the "Uncharted" franchise series, has mentioned that "The Last of Us 2" is indeed in the works.
The report, however, pointed that "The Last of Us 2" has just been delayed in order for the studio to focus on "Uncharted 4: A Thief's End," which is already the last for the series. Hence, development of "The Last of Us 2" is reported to come after "Uncharted 4."
Nonetheless, the entertainment news outlet pointed that given the studio's pattern of releasing games with a gap of two or three years, the release of "The Last of Us 2" might come by 2018 or 2019 with the earliest possible by 2017.
However, a recent interview by Finder.com with Naughty Dog's Community Strategist Arne Meyer might just give fans some hope for "The Last of Us 2."
Although Meyer did not specify that they will be releasing "The Last of Us 2," he confirmed that they are planning to release two more games for this current generation while also pointing that their development cycles are not that long and he is hoping that they would be releasing a game "pretty soon."
"I mean I have no doubt -- I don't know what the timelines are -- but we have at least one, maybe two games left in the console generation, maybe more. Clearly we can release a game really late in a console generation and do well, right?" Meyer told Finder.com.
On the other hand, besides rumors of its possible release, there are also rumors about its possible story line.
A separate report by Movie Pilot has pointed some interesting plot for the game which included a possible death for Joel.
According to the release by the website, the scene of Joel dying and Ellie trying to survive alone will make an interesting and dramatic storyline where players can see Ellie reminiscing her days with Joel.
As of present time, there is no official announcement for "The Last of Us 2."
