"The Divergent series: Allegiant" first trailer is out and it offers a glimpse of futuristic cities, how advanced technology became part of the normal world and smorgasbord of dystopian problems. There was a willingness to wipe an entire city and its residents off the planet. The trailer was released exclusively by Buzzfeed along with the film's poster.
"Allegiant" was announced by Lionsgate in 2014. The third film in the franchise will pick up after the cataclysmic events in "Insurgent," according to Lionsgate Motion Picture Group Co-Chairman Rob Friedman and Patrick Wachsberger. The third book in Veronica Roth's best-selling Divergent trilogy will be produce and release as two separate films. These are Allegiat -- Parts 1 & 2 scheduled for release on March 18, 2016 and March 24, 2017, respectively.
Tris Prior, played by Shailene Woodley, and Four Eaton, played by Theo James, enters a dangerous new world that they no longer recognize, the synopsis of the film goes. As new truths are revealed about the past and future, Tris must face impossible choices about courage, allegiance and love to protect the people closest to her.
The new trailer shows Tris and Four going beyond the wall of Chicago where they found a civilization more futuristic and centuries ahead than what they have known of. Their greatest discovery was that they have been being watched by the civilization outside the wall since time immemorial. It finally donned to Tris that as a Divergent she has the responsibility to save the world but first she must save the people of Chicago.
"The Divergent series: Allegiant" is directed by Robert Schwentke of "Insurgent" and "Red" and written by Noah Oppenheim of "The Maze Runner." The film will also have some of the franchises' alums back onscreen. Ray Stevenson will come back as Four's father Marcus; Naomi Watts as Four's mother Evelyn; Octavia Spencer as Johanna; Maggi Q as Tori; Keiynan Lonsdale as Uriah. New actors to join the franchise are Jeff Daniels, Bill Skargard and Nadia Hilker.
Lionsgate saw it fit to have the "The Divergent series: Allegiant" in a two-part film for the said presentation proved effective with two of their blockbuster films in the past. "Veronica Roth brings her captivating story to a masterful conclusion in Allegiant, a rich, action-packed book with material that is ideally suited to two strong and fulfilling movies," according to Friedman and Wachsberger. "The storytelling arc and world of the characters lend themselves perfectly to two films, a storytelling strategy that has worked very well for us on the two Twilight Breaking Dawn films and about which we're tremendously enthusiastic for the two upcoming Mockingjay films of The Hunger Games Franchise," the executives added.
