"Aquaman" gets Jason Wan on board to direct the movie and hired new writer David Leslie Johnson.
In the latest update for the upcoming DC film "Aquaman," it has been revealed that Director Jason Wan will be taking over the film. Apart from Wan, David Leslie Johnson was also hired to be the writer of the new DC Entertainment superhero film, The Hollywood Reported stated.
Johnson has previously worked as an assistant to Frank Darabont and was part of the success of "Wrath of the Titans" and "Red Riding Hood." Johnson is also well acquainted with the director because of his involvement with "The Conjuring 2: The Enfield Poltergeist" which is Wan's current project.
The water-based movie is set for release in 2018 and Jason Momoa who is also known for his character Khal Drogo in "Game of Thrones" will be the lead star. Momoa will first appear as Aquaman in the "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" film which will be released next year.
According to Cinemablend, Momoa kept it a secret that he will be playing "Aquaman" until the management decided to post his photo in character on social media.
"That was a shocker for sure. It was supposed to be a surprise in 2016... I've been holding that secret for a long time. Zack Snyder called me up and said, 'I'm posting this picture now.' He's just a genius and I love him to death," Momoa said. "We all freaked out, man. It was so amazing to see it come out."
Meanwhile, there are rumors that Momoa might be returning in "Game of Thrones" to reprise his role as Khal Drogo but this has not been confirmed. The actor was recently spotted in St. Johns, Canada filming a six-episode series titled "Frontier."
Well, fans definitely miss the Hawaiian giant ever since he bowed his exit from the Season 1 of "Game of Thrones." In an interview, he recalled the time he auditioned for the role where he danced a traditional Maori battle cry, the Haka.
"When I did the Haka, I went in and it was so [expletive] awesome and gnarly, and they didn't know that shit was going to happen," Momoa said. "They didn't even have a camera rolling, so they asked me to come back in and do it again. I did a nicer version the second time. Then, I had to test a love scene right after."
