With the overwhelming success of its wild western sandbox game "Red Dead Redemption," Rockstar Games did not have much choice but to make a sequel.

Although not yet released, a lot of speculations are already surrounding the sequel to the game, especially when it comes to the story. According to Crossmap, the game may be focused on the son John Marston seeking revenge years after the events of the first game.

Due to this rumor, the title for the game has also been rumored to be "Red Dead Revenge."

For those who have not played the first game, it revolved around a former outlaw named John Marston who's family was taken away by the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Marston would only be reunited with his family if he helps the FBI capture or kill the remnants of his old crew.

Throughout the game, the players take control of Marston and slowly learn the truth behind the whole situation and begin to side with the former outlaw. However, in a sudden turn of events the game ends with Marston never actually getting to see his son grow up as he is gunned down in a last-ditch effort to save his wife and son after being released from his deal with the government.

The story ends in a narrative from John's son Jack years after his death and how Jack began to track down the men responsible for his father's death.

The story, gameplay, and replay value all contributed to the game becoming a smash hit, and according to Game Zone, the sales of the game reviled that of the "Grand Theft Auto" series.

While it is highly unlikely for any real news to revealed for "Red Dead Redemption 2" anytime soon since Rockstar is known to take its time to ensure the quality of the game, doesn't mean fans will be chomping at the bit to find out anything they can.

So far, it looks like the sequel will be maintaining a similar sandbox gameplay to it, as the first game took many elements for GTA. This would be a logical choice as the first game garnered several awards upon its release such as Game of the Year for 2011 from several media outlets as well as a spot on several Best Video Games of All Time lists.
