Google finally launched the Android 6.0 Marshmallow on the new Nexus 5X and Nexus 6P smartphones. The new OS update provided a variety of special functions and features.

KnowYourMobile cited that Google improved power consumption so that devices run longer for each charge. Users have better control over app permissions and can customize their settings, status bar display and interface. There were also several adjustments made on Google Chrome web browsing, the native interface and animations, among others. Android can now take on external storage cards and use these similarly as onboard memory.

The Android 6.0 Marshmallow debuted on the Nexus 5X and Nexus 6P phones, so users who plan to avail of the OS first can get either of the two models. The OS upgrade is expected to roll out first on various Google Nexus devices, namely the Nexus 5 (2013), Nexus 6 (2014), Nexus 9, Nexus 7 and the Nexus Player. There are download files that let users install Android 6.0 manually. Google announced in its official blog that rollout plans are already ongoing. Over-the-air software updates will become available in the coming weeks.

KnowYourMobile also reported that the LG G4 smartphone will be the first worldwide to get the Android 6.0 Marshmallow. In the second week of November 2015, LG G4 users in Poland will receive the update. Users in the Americas, Europe and Asia will also receive the update afterwards. HTC announced that the HTC One M8 and One M9 will receive the Android M update before 2015 ends. Other HTC devices bound the receive the upgrade include One M9+, One E9+, One E9, One E8, One M8 EYE and HTC Desire 816, 820 and 826.

Motorola revealed in a blog that it will also be updating various devices to Android Marshmallow, namely the 2015 Moto X Pure Edition (3rd gen), 2015 Moto X Style (3rd gen), 2015 Moto X Play, 2015 Moto G (3rd gen), 2014 Moto X Pure Edition in the United States (2nd gen), 2014 Moto X in Latin America, Asia and Europe (2nd gen), 2014 Moto G and Moto G with 4G LTE (2nd gen), 2014 Moto MAXX, 2014 Moto Turbo, DROID Turbo and Nexus 6.

Sony also stated that Xperia Z3 and Z3 Compact owners will receive the update soon. Honor, which is also under Huawei, stated that Android 6.0 will be available on its handsets in February 2016. Samsung is speculated to update the Galaxy S6, Galaxy Note 5, Galaxy S6 edge and Galaxy S6 edge+.
