It's finally here. After what seems like an agonizing wade through eternity, the official Android 4.1.1 Jelly Bean update for the AT&T Samsung Galaxy S3 is available for download.
Grabbing Jelly Bean for your AT&T Galaxy S3 will upgrade the handset to firmware I747UCDLK3. At the moment, the update seems to only be available through the Samsung KIES software, or through third-party websites with the firmware download.
There haven't been any reports about OTA distribution, although AT&T should begin sending it out over the airwaves within a couple days. Once AT&T does, not all users will receive it at the same time, so if you're unwilling to wait any longer until your batch of handsets receives Jelly Bean, you'll have to download it manually.
Sadly, Verizon Galaxy S3 owners are still left in the dark about their Jelly Bean update. The carrier has been notoriously slow with Android updates in the past, but given the success and popularity of the Galaxy S3, one would expect Big Red to make more of an effort. Verizon Galaxy S3 owners who cannot wait any longer can download leaked ROMS, but be warned they are unofficial, and as always, carry some inherent risk.
Carrier U.S. Cellular also hasn't released Android 4.1 Jelly Bean for its Galaxy S3.
The AT&T release brings the number of U.S. carriers that have rolled out Jelly Bean for the Galaxy S3 to three. Sprint was the first to do so, and T-Mobile followed not too long after.
