The sequel to the sleeper hit "John Wick" now has its main villain in the form of rap star Common.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Common will be the head of security for a yet-to-be-named female crime lord. No word has been made on how Reeve's character of John Wick and Common's character will eventually come to blows.
Common is not a rookie to movies as his past films include "Now You See Me," "Selma" and "Smokin' Aces. Moreover, according to Comic Book Resources, the Rapper will also be playing a super villain named Tattooed Man in the upcoming DC movie "Suicide Squad."
Other than Keanu Reeve's and Common's involvement in the movie, not many other actors have been confirmed for the sequel. However, seeing that the first movie did not have a lot of plot going on, it seems that the sequel has more free reign when it comes to the actual story.
For those who do not know, "John Wick" was a film about the title character who was previously a famous assassin in the underworld. When John met his wife, he wanted out of the business and was given that out after he performed an act so impossible it gave him the reputation as the person you send when you want someone dead.
After the death of his wife from an unknown illness, John was given a dog to help with the grief. His car was his only other prized possession. When both were taken away from him by an arrogant Russian Mob boss' son, John finds himself back in the world he just got out of.
The first movie was critically praised for the simplicity of the story and the complexity of the John Wick character and his portrayal. Reeve's acting shows that the "Matrix" star still has the action chops to play in such an action-packed movie.
Chad Stahelski will be returning to direct "John Wick 2", and filming for the sequel will begin this month. Also returning is screenwriter Derek Kolstad, who helped write the first movie which made over US$70 million worldwide on a limited budget of US$20 million.
"John Wick 2" will once again be distributed by Lionsgate films. However, no word has been made on when the movie will be debuting in theaters.
