The word around town is that the Apple iPhone7 will be release on Sept. 2016. While it will just be easy to jump on the iPhone 6s and the iPhone 6s Plus bandwagon because of the long wait, new information to have emerged seemed to be telling fans to just sit back because iPhone7 will be worth the wait.
The Apple iPhone 7 will come with all new dramatic design: without the Home button, bigger display screen, improved battery life and a sapphire screen. This is according to analyst Gene Munster of Piper Jaffray.
"We expect the iPhone 7 to sport a unique design from the iPhone 6/6S. As many have speculated, the addition of 3D Touch may provide Apple with a way to eliminate the home button on the phone and use the additional space to make the screen bigger or make the device smaller," Munster wrote in a note to investors of which copy was obtained by Barron's. He stressed that a Home-buttonless iPhone has a 50 percent chance for the iPhone 7. To make this a possibility, Apple may move the Touch ID reader currently integrated into the home button.
Munster also believed that Apple is improving the battery life for the next iPhone. He is guessing that such improvement will be most welcomed by customers.
Munster noted that the rumor mill for an iPhone with a sapphire screen had long since been spinning. He however stressed that the iPhone 7 is the closest possible model where a sapphire screen could finally be a reality.
"Since Apple now uses sapphire on the Apple Watch, it could make sense for them to adapt it to the phone. We note that Apple is using the stronger aluminum from the Apple Watch Sport for the iPhone 6S case," Munster wrote in his note to investors.
Munster's prediction is compatible to the recent iPhone 7 concept design released by designer Marek Weidlich. The design shows the iPhone 7 with an edge-to-edge curved display without the Home button. Weidlich however replaced it with a virtual Home button.
He also designed the back of the iPhone 7 with a metal case inside a plastic frame. In the video posted to YouTube, it was explained that the metal part of the casing can be customized by users.
"The back rounded body is designed with an aluminum material supplemented with a plastic strip for better holding," Weidlich explained on YouTube. What is novel about his design, Weidlich stressed, is that the iPhone can finally be connected to iPad and turn them into a gaming station. Photos of the iPhone 7 concept design can be viewed from Weidlich's Behance profile.
