Motorola’s 2015 line of Droid smartphones are most likely set to be unveiled this coming October 27 after Motorola and US carrier Verizon Wireless had reportedly sent out press invites for a special event in New York City.
These two likely devices coming out on that day, set for 11 a.m., will be the Motorola Droid Turbo 2 and the Droid Maxx 2. Rumors of the Droid Turbo 2 coming had already come out previously, but apparently, such doesn’t seem to be the case for the Droid Maxx 2.
But many are banking on the invites handed out which emphasized on Droids. Thus, the Droid Turbo 2 and/or the Droid Maxx 2 could be likely unveiled along perhaps with some other phones.
Though the specs of the devices are still purely based on rumors, the invite seems to tell a lot on what to expect.
With regards to the Droid Turbo 2, many are taking the image on the invites as a probable sign to be one of the phone’s striking features.
The invite bears the image of shattered glass, which many perceive to be an indication that the Droid Turbo 2 will be carrying a shatter-proof glass display. Rumors about this have already spun out before, so this could likely be confirmed come October 27.
Right now, all other specs on what the Droid Turbo 2 may carry remain unofficial. Per rumors, the Droid Turbo 2 will come with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor, a 5.5-inch (2560x1440 pixel) display, 3 GB of RAM, a 21 MP main camera, 5 MP front-facing shooter and a 3,760 mAh battery.
There is a possibility that the Droid Turbo 2 could make the international scene, only that it may be under a different name -- Moto X Force.
With regards to the Droid Maxx 2, it is believed that this other device could come out with a slightly lesser dense, 5.5-inch display but will instead tout a Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 SoC. It will have a 3,630 mAh battery as well.
Aside from those, the Droid Maxx 2 will be carrying practically similar features that the Droid Turbo 2 carries as mentioned above. The device is also said to be Verizon Wireless’ exclusive version of the Moto X Play.
It remains to be seen if both devices will come out with Android 5.1.1 Lollipop or Android 6.0 Marshmallow operating system out of the box.
Aside from the Droid Turbo 2 and Droid Maxx 2, could there be other Droid devices coming out as well? Sound off in the comments section.
