When Android Marshmallow breaks out of the gate, will LG devices be among the first to receive it?

Some reports have hinted that LG G4 and G# may be among the first to get the latest Android OS version.

"If you own a vanilla Android Nexus device, you should be getting Marshmallow on October 5," GSM Arena said. "The clues were found on the company's Korean support website, where a few flagship models have Android 6.0 listed as an OS version option."

"Currently, these include the LG G3 F400S, F400K, and F400L, along with the LG G4 F500S, F500K, and F500L," the site added.

Originally sleuthed by GforGames, it appeared LG had already prepared the documents for the devices in anticipation of the Android M launch.

"Specifically, it appears that the company's support page in Korea has already been updated to accommodate information regarding the eventual release of Android 6 Marshmallow on the two aforementioned devices," the tech news portal said, adding that LG has not made official announcements about the rollout on its devices yet. However, it can be recalled that LG had opted out of updating its flagship products to Android 5.1.1 to prepare for version 6.0. As such, it's likely that the rumored Android M LG rollout may be on target.

"Clicking on the 'Android 6' category seems to redirect the user to an unrelated page so we admit this isn't much, but it should at least indicate that the company is already working on making the update available to some of its customers," the site added, referring to the support page in question.

If you have the LG smartphone models rumored to be among those first to receive Marshmallow, you can try manually checking your handset for updates starting October 5. Just go to the system settings of your phone, click about phone, and choose software update to do that.

LG is not the only one reportedly set to roll out Marshmallow early.

"Recently HTC announced that they were committed to bringing the big software update - which named Lollipop bug fixes as one of their big new features - to the One M8 and M9, followed closely by Motorola only earlier today," Phandroid noted.

Marshmallow was introduced just less than a year after Android 5.0 Lollipop rolled out. It will reportedly come with "Google Now on Tap, Visual Voicemail and RAM Manager and includes improvements such as Chrome Custom Tabs, simplified app permissions and Doze power-saving option," the International Business Times said.
