The holiday season is not only a time to celebrate. For companies like Sony and Microsoft, it is a time of tough competition when both consoles go in a heated battle for a big boost in sales.
This battle goes with a lot of offerings from both companies. However, with Microsoft showing what was dubbed to be the strongest line-up in its console's history, Sony is yet to make a wave with its Holiday offerings.
In an interview with Eurogamer during this year's EGX, Sony Computer Entertainment's President of worldwide studios Shuhei Yoshida discussed the company's holiday line-up and how it compares to the stacked line-up of Microsoft's Xbox One.
According to Yoshida, people will not just consider the "first party line-up" when making purchase decisions, further pointing that the third-party releases that PlayStation 4 will offer this Christmas, which includes "Call of Duty: Black Ops III," "Assassin's Creed: Syndicate," "Star Wars Battlefront," "Destiny: The Taken King," and "Metal Gear Solid V: Phantom Pain," will also play a huge role in the console holiday battle.
Yoshida also added that there will be "no shortage" of big name titles available for the Sony console, highlighting that even those new to the console will be able to enjoy games such as "Bloodborne" and "Until Dawn."
On the other hand, the Sony Boss also pointed that the company is currently focusing on delivering its big name, Triple A titles that are scheduled to be released next year, as they believe that delivering for a long term purpose is more important.
"People make purchasing decisions for the long-term. Consoles, once they've purchased it, they expect to use it for 5-6 years. Having exclusive, unique titles coming in the near future, starting with Uncharted 4, must play a role from a first-party standpoint, to help people make those decisions," Yoshida furthered.
As reported by Game Rant, the PS4 lineup is obviously lacking when compared to Microsoft's Xbox One lineup, which will be featuring games such as "Halo 5: Guardians," "Fable Legends," "Rise of the Tomb Raider," and "Forza Motorsport 6" among many others.
A recent listing also mentioned that Microsoft will also be offering a "Fallout 4" bundle that will include a 1TB Hard Drive.
These Microsoft offerings are clearly way better than that of Sony's; nonetheless, Yoshida emphasized that he is "very proud" of their current line-up of games and offerings for the holiday season.
"We're not releasing new triple-A titles this Christmas like you say, and like some critics say. But we're releasing smaller, creative games this year, like Everybody's Gone to the Rapture, or we're working on The Tomorrow Children, and many small but interesting titles," Yoshida added in the interview with Eurogamer.
